VINYL APOTHECARY

Music is my safe space and writing is my resistance.

Vinyl Apothecary is an independent publication and radio show created to celebrate music and the arts in the PNW (and beyond) and as a direct response to the current climate where the arts and journalism are being compromised. More than ever, it is crucial to elevate various forms of expression, especially from marginalized voices.

The site's creator, Adriana Gomez-Weston, believes in the transformative power of music. In Adriana's own life, music has been a tool in her healing journey, provided space for community, and served as an epic soundtrack to her strange life.

Of the creation of the site and show, Adriana stated,

After a couple months of fiddling around with ideas, I thought about how being in Seattle and being present in the music and community has helped me on a path to healing since my move.

I also think a lot about the concept of “blooming.” My years-long username, adrianainbloom, was originally derived from that Nirvana song (I know, corny). However, as time went by, it has become something more. I’d consider myself a late bloomer in a lot of ways, but I’ve learned it’s nothing to be ashamed of. Being in bloom, means I am constantly growing, and always a work in progress.

Vinyl Apothecary is a way to share my love of the music (past AND present) from the Pacific Northwest, this space I adore. I wanted a way to share inspiring up-and-coming artists, as well as a way to share those little musical discoveries from the days of yore.

After a couple years away from entertainment journalism, I decided to come back. Vinyl Apothecary is also a space I plan to use to interview artists about music as medicine, the power of community, and more.

Currently, Vinyl Apothecary is focused on coverage of albums, singles, live events, and discussions in the local arts scene.
